Check your Iqama

Check Iqama by Passport Number

Not having your Iqama number to hand is a common situation — for new arrivals, for family members, or simply when the card is not nearby. The good news is you can check your residency status using your passport number instead. This guide focuses on the passport-number route: which platforms accept it, and how to do it.

The quick answer

You can check your Iqama using your passport number mainly through the Muqeem platform, which is designed to accept passport-number searches. Enter your passport number and, where requested, your date of birth or other details. This is especially handy for new arrivals whose Iqama number has not been issued yet, or when you simply do not have the Iqama number available.

When you would check by passport number

There are a few common situations. New arrivals often do not yet have an Iqama number, but do have their passport. Family members or sponsors sometimes need to check on someone's behalf and only have the passport details. And many people simply do not carry or remember their Iqama number but always have passport information available.

In all of these cases, a passport-number search is the practical way in, and Muqeem is the platform most geared towards it.

How to check by passport number

These platforms can accept a passport number for the inquiry. Muqeem is the most reliable for passport-based searches.

1

Via Muqeem

Muqeem is the platform used by establishments and sponsors.

  1. Visit the Muqeem platform at muqeem.sa.
  2. Log in, or use the public inquiry option if your sponsor has enabled it.
  3. Enter your Iqama number, and if asked, your passport number, date of birth or expiry date.
  4. Submit the form to see your Iqama validity and status.

Via MOL / Qiwa

MOL / Qiwa is the labor ministry platform, useful when you do not have an Absher account.

  1. Go to the labor inquiry service on Qiwa (Ministry of Human Resources).
  2. Select the service to validate worker or Iqama information.
  3. Enter your Iqama number and your date of birth (Hijri or Gregorian).
  4. Enter the captcha code and submit to view your Iqama status.

If the passport search does not work

Passport-number lookups depend on how records are configured, so they do not always succeed. If yours does not return a result, the most reliable fallback is to obtain your Iqama number — from your card, your employer, or official paperwork — and then use the MOI or Qiwa inquiry, which are built around the Iqama number.

For brand-new arrivals, the border number is another route while the Iqama is still being processed. See our guide on checking by border number.

Frequently asked questions

Which platform accepts a passport number?

Muqeem is the main one geared towards passport-number searches. Absher and the MOI inquiry are built around the Iqama number.

Why can't I find my record by passport?

It may be a configuration issue, or your Iqama may still be processing. Try obtaining your Iqama number and using the MOI or Qiwa inquiry instead.

I am a new arrival with no Iqama yet

Use your border number while the Iqama is being issued. See our checking by border number guide.

Can I check this for free?

Yes. Checking your status through the official government portals is free of charge. You only pay when you carry out a paid transaction such as a renewal.

Do I need an Absher account?

Not always. While Absher is the most complete option, several checks also work through the MOI and labor ministry portals without a personal Absher login.

What details do I need?

Usually your Iqama number is enough. Some portals also let you search using your passport number, border number, date of birth or other details.
