The quick answer

Apply online at the official portal visa.visitsaudi.com. Create an account, enter your passport and travel details, upload a photo, pay the fee (which includes mandatory insurance), and receive the eVisa by email, usually within minutes to a few days. Eligible nationalities can also get a visa on arrival.

Who can apply

The tourist eVisa is open to citizens of a set list of eligible countries. If your nationality is on that list, you can apply online or get the visa on arrival; if not, you generally apply through a Saudi embassy.

Our guide to eligible countries covers who qualifies and the routes available.

What you need to apply

  • A passport valid for at least six months
  • A recent passport-style photo
  • A valid email address and a card to pay
  • Basic travel details for your trip
  • Eligibility for the eVisa based on your nationality

Processing and what you receive

Most eVisas are approved quickly, often within minutes, though it can take longer in some cases. You receive the visa as a document by email to print or show on your phone.

The tourist visa allows tourism, family visits and, importantly, performing Umrah, but not paid work or long-term residence.
