Check your Iqama

Iqama Validity Check (Is My Iqama Valid?)

Sometimes you do not need the full story — you just need a yes-or-no answer to 'is my Iqama still valid?' before opening a bank account, signing a contract, or travelling. This guide is the fast route to confirming your Iqama validity, the details you need, and what to do if the answer is no.

The quick answer

To confirm your Iqama is valid, enter your Iqama number (or passport number on Muqeem) on an official portal. If it returns a future expiry date and an active status, your Iqama is valid. If it shows expired or returns no active record, it is not valid and needs attention from your sponsor.

When you need a quick validity check

A validity check is the practical, everyday version of an Iqama lookup. Banks, landlords, employers and service providers often need to confirm your residency is current before they proceed, and you may want to confirm it yourself before committing to anything that assumes you are a valid resident.

Unlike a deep status review, this is about a simple confirmation: valid or not valid, right now. The portals give you that answer in under a minute.

How to confirm your Iqama validity

Any of these official services confirms validity. Muqeem is handy if you only have a passport number to hand.

1

Via MOI (Ministry of Interior)

MOI (Ministry of Interior) is the Ministry of Interior e-services portal.

  1. Open the MOI e-services portal at moi.gov.sa.
  2. Switch the language to English from the top menu if needed.
  3. Go to 'E-Services' and then the 'Passports' (Jawazat) services.
  4. Choose the query service, enter your Iqama number and the verification code, then submit.

2

Via Muqeem

Muqeem is the platform used by establishments and sponsors.

  1. Visit the Muqeem platform at muqeem.sa.
  2. Log in, or use the public inquiry option if your sponsor has enabled it.
  3. Enter your Iqama number, and if asked, your passport number, date of birth or expiry date.
  4. Submit the form to see your Iqama validity and status.
Open Muqeem →
3

Via MOL / Qiwa

MOL / Qiwa is the labor ministry platform, useful when you do not have an Absher account.

  1. Go to the labor inquiry service on Qiwa (Ministry of Human Resources).
  2. Select the service to validate worker or Iqama information.
  3. Enter your Iqama number and your date of birth (Hijri or Gregorian).
  4. Enter the captcha code and submit to view your Iqama status.

If your Iqama is not valid

If the check shows your Iqama is expired or returns no active record, do not ignore it. An invalid Iqama can block the very thing you were trying to do, and it carries the risk of fines. The fix is renewal, which is normally handled by your sponsor.

Contact your employer promptly, confirm the expiry situation, and ask them to renew. While you wait, avoid commitments that depend on valid residency until it is restored. See our renewal guides for the full process and costs.

Frequently asked questions

Is a validity check the same as an expiry check?

They overlap. A validity check gives a quick valid/not-valid answer; the expiry check focuses on the exact date and how to read it. For the date detail, see our Iqama expiry check guide.

Can I check validity with a passport number?

Yes, through Muqeem, which accepts passport-number searches. See our check by passport number guide.

How current is the result?

The portals draw on live government records, so the validity result reflects your current standing.

Can I check this for free?

Yes. Checking your status through the official government portals is free of charge. You only pay when you carry out a paid transaction such as a renewal.

Do I need an Absher account?

Not always. While Absher is the most complete option, several checks also work through the MOI and labor ministry portals without a personal Absher login.

What details do I need?

Usually your Iqama number is enough. Some portals also let you search using your passport number, border number, date of birth or other details.
