The quick answer

Your sponsor or employer issues the final exit visa through Absher. Before it can be issued, all fines, traffic violations and any active labor cases must be cleared, and dependents' status must be settled. Once issued, you generally have 60 days to leave.

How it is issued

The final exit visa is requested by the sponsor through the official portal. The resident confirms departure plans and clears any holds.

Via Absher

Absher is the main government portal for residents and citizens.

  1. Go to the Absher portal at absher.sa and log in with your username and password, or register through the Nafath app.
  2. Open the 'My Services' section and choose 'Services'.
  3. Select 'Reports' and then 'Documents' (or 'Alien Control').
  4. Your Iqama details, including the expiry date, will be displayed on screen.

What can block a final exit visa

Issuance is suspended if there are unpaid traffic fines, outstanding violations, or a labor dispute case still to be heard. Active obligations such as rental contracts or dependents who have not settled their own status can also hold it up.

Sorting these out early is the difference between a smooth departure and a stressful one. Check for fines and holds in Absher well before your intended date.

Settle these before you leave

  • All traffic fines and government violations paid
  • No active labor dispute pending a decision
  • Dependents' Iqama or exit status arranged
  • Final salary, contract and any dues resolved with your employer
  • Bank, telecom and rental obligations closed

No. Withholding an employee's passport is banned under Saudi law. Your passport must be returned to you to complete your departure.

How long do I have to leave after it is issued?

A final exit visa generally must be used within 60 days. Staying beyond that can lead to fines and complications, so book your departure within the window.

Where can I find official information?

Always rely on the official government portals such as absher.sa and moi.gov.sa for the most accurate, up-to-date information about your residency.
